For the past few years, border protection has been the largest issue Arizonans seek to work on. As tensions rise higher and higher, the U.S. Government is taking increasingly larger steps to put an end to it.

As the military descends upon the Grand Canyon State, their methods are getting more and more extreme, and now Arizonans are getting more concerned with how far this will go.

Heavily Armed Troops Descending On the Border

For the past few months, the U.S. Army has been ramping up their presence in southern Arizona. Initially, it was one or two outposts situated across the border that housed a few hundred troops. Now, it's become crews of over 7,600, all in heavily armed tactical gear.

Tanks, drones, and heavy artillery can now be seen almost everywhere across the border, doing what they call "deterrence". The hope is, with this much firepower, those who may hope to cross the border will turn around with the hopes of not being violently executed the second they step onto U.S. Soil.

Moving Past Civilian Law

Initially, the military was meant to act as an extension of local police and border patrol forces. Now, they've moved beyond that. Militarized zones have been established with thousands of soldiers in heavy tactical gear, leading Arizona closer and closer to full-on marital law.

These zones are a bit of a legal grey area. While the military does have the right to arrest anyone trespassing on a military base, it's the location of these bases that are raising some eyebrows. Will they continue to expand these across Arizona, or are their efforts going to be contained just to Cochise and Yuma counties?
