The Military Is Locking Down Arizona’s Border: What You Need To Know
Over the past few years, border security has become the hot topic, especially here in Arizona. As the weeks go by, we've seen more and more of a crack down on illegal immigration, from mass deportations to increased security along the southern border.
Now, the United States Military is intervening in what may be Arizona's biggest change yet.
Military Buffer Zones
The Department of Defense has announced that new "Military Buffer Zones" will be implemented across the country, focusing on border states like Texas and Arizona. These are seen as extensions of Military bases, allowing personnel to detain immigrants for trespassing.
Two new Buffer Zones are being established in the coming months, adding to the two previously established. The personnel on these bases will not be conducting law enforcement, rather, they're strategically placing these bases where border crossers will be considered "trespassing on Military land", allowing them to arrest anyone coming through.

What Does This Mean for Southern Arizona
The latest addition to Arizona's Buffer Zones is focused on the Western side of the state. It will cover around 100 miles just outside of Yuma, but it's certainly not a first for the Grand Canyon State.
The first to be implemented was actually right here, in Cochise County, connected to Fort Huachuca, stretching 170 miles of southern Arizona and New Mexico. This isn't the end, either. More of these buffer zones are planned, and Arizona seems to be the prime target for a multitude of reasons. While Martial Law has not been declared in Arizona, as more of these bases pop up, it sure seems like we're getting close.
