Keep An Eye Out For THIS Upcoming Pandemic In Arizona
Come on man. We watched life shut down in 2020 for the COVID-19 pandemic, and then just a few short month ago, H5N1, otherwise known as Bird Flu, began spreading across the United States.
You'd think that would be more than enough to throw at us, but the universe isn't done with us yet.
Measles is Back (Kind of)
Measles is the kind of disease I thought we'd all but eradicated when I was younger. I must have been wrong, because as of February 26th, 2025, eight U.S. states had confirmed cases of the disease, including California and New Mexico, two states on Arizona's borders.
Arizona has gone through 2025 so far without any confirmed cases, but experts believe an outbreak could be coming very very soon. There is plenty of reasoning as to why it may make a comeback, but one flies high above the rest.

Why is Measles Making a Comeback?
The Arizona Department of Health Services has a surefire idea. They've noticed a troubling trend amongst Arizona youth over the past five years: they're not getting their measles vaccine.. You know, the thing that stops you from getting measles?
As of the 2023-24 school year, around 88.1% of kindergarten students in the Grand Canyon State had received the vaccine, compared to a 93.5% rate in 2019-20. This is, to put it lightly, not good. While many are wary of vaccines after the rushed production of the COVID vaccine, health officials have been pleading parents to get their children the measles vaccine, as it's been proven safe more times than can count, and will ensure your child doesn't become seriously ill in later years.
