Arizona Is Making It Harder To Get Health Insurance
Maybe one of the most defining characteristics of the American machine is our absurd healthcare policies. While much of the rest of the world pays for much of their care out of pocket, Americans typically have to rely on insurance companies to help them out.
Many Arizonans rely on Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS), a form of Medicaid. We're about to see some massive changes to it.
Medicaid Cuts are Coming
As a new administration enters the White House, massive changes are coming, one of which is the calculated assassination of Medicaid and Medicare. Currently, the U.S. House of Representatives is looking to push forward somewhere around $880 Billion in spending reduction for Medicaid through 2035.
Arizona is heavily dependent on this program, with one in FOUR residents being covered by Medicaid, that rounds out to nearly two million people. This program helps out the most desperate of us, those making 138% or less of the Federal Poverty Line. It's a godsend that they may lose under new restrictions.

Arizona Medicaid Restrictions
Arizona's Medicaid Agency is currently in the midst of editing a proposal meant for the federal government that would see major changes coming to the healthcare program.
The most major change is the Work Requirements, forcing members of the program ages 19-55 to work at least 20 hours a week in order to receive their coverage. This can include going to a job, attending school, or taking part in community service. The new work program will help connect you with job training, education, and volunteer opportunities to ensure you don't lose your coverage.
Other changes coming may include a five year lifetime limit on enrollment and new cost sharing requirements.
