Massive Celebrity Death May Be Linked To Arizona
Earlier this year, the world was shocked to hear of the mysterious passing of legendary actor Gene Hackman and his wife. The cause of death was unknown for some time, and with no foul play involved, the media was at a loss.
We finally know what happened to the Hackmans, and it might have roots tracing back to the Grand Canyon State.
What is Hantavirus?
It was discovered that Hackman's wife passed away first due to the Hantavirus, leaving Gene (who was struggling with Alzheimer's) alone in their home for a week before he succumbed to his illness.
Hantavirus is a sometimes fatal disease that is picked up by coming into contact with rodents, specifically deer mice, in the American Southwest. Symptoms are not unlike that of the common cold, with fever, headaches, and nausea leading the pack. Muscle aches and dizziness are experienced by about half of the patients dealing with the virus. In many cases, but not all, it can be fatal.

Is Hantavirus Spreading Across Arizona?
Hantavirus is a very rare disease, with only 864 confirmed cases between 1993 and 2022. That being said, it's not typically something to look out for. Last year was a weird year for Arizona, though, as we saw seven cases as opposed to the average of under three a year.
This resulted in three deaths within the state's borders, two of which were both in Coconino County. Luckily, as I said, the virus is rare, and conditions for it to develop should be absurd enough that you stay away from it. So for safety, attempt to avoid rodents, and especially any fluids rodents have left behind.
