Arizona’s Open Carry Laws Are About To Change DRASTICALLY
Many don't know it, but growing up I was an avid golfer. I grew up aspiring to be like my heroes, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, and Bobby Jones, and played almost every day to achieve that goal.
Obviously, I didn't make the PGA Tour, but I still love to get out on the course to enjoy myself now and then. Arizona is finally changing their laws to make the experience even more enjoyable.
BYOB Laws are Changing
While on the course, many amateur golfers prefer to sip on a cold beer to combat the heat of the day. There are strict laws in place, however, to prohibit outside food and drink on the course, forcing golfers to pay ludicrous prices at the course-owned club.
A new bill has been making the rounds in the Arizona House of Representatives, which will bring a huge change to Arizona golf courses. HB2411 would allow (but not require) golf courses 1,000 yards or larger to permit outside food and beverage on their course.
Not everyone's on board with that plan, though.

Issues with HB2411
The bill came forward as many politicians were tired of being seen as buzzkills for prohibiting outside liquor. While their intent was good, their reasoning may not be. Many Arizona politicians support the bill, having been passed at 8-2.
Only one "no" vote explained their reasoning, stating that golfers have to drive home after their round, and promoting excess alcohol consumption may lead to higher rates of intoxicated driving.
Regardless, the bill seems primed to succeed, and in the words of a course operator at Cowboy Golf Classic in Prescott: "Everything is cheaper at the gas station".
