What A Government Shutdown Will Look Like For Arizona
Well folks, it's happening again. It seems that every six months, Congress forgets they're elected representatives and throw themselves into a personal feud that shuts down government operations until they can set aside their differences.
It seems we're right on the cusp of another government shutdown, so it's time to break down what that means for Arizona.
What Agencies Will Be Affected?
Arizona has somewhere around 60,000 workers employed by the federal government. Luckily, they won't all be out of work. Government employees have been split into "essential" and "non-essential" camps, with essential workers potentially having their paychecks delayed.
That being said, Arizona has a few agencies that will be affected by this shutdown, most namely the National Parks Service. They will cease operations, but the state does have the power to redirect funds to keep them open. Slight delays in transportation agencies and migrant shelters are to be expected as well.

What Agencies Are Safe?
Luckily, all the agencies you need to stay open seem to be safe (sorry to y'all who need to go to National Parks but those aren't exactly life or death). The Military will stay untouched, as well as Medicare and Social Security, three agencies that are necessary to not throw our country into chaos, or at least, more chaos than we've seen already.
FBI, CIA, and Border Patrol will also stay active, with the latter being a massive deal in Arizona. In the event of a shutdown, the government will work to the best of it's ability to bring funding back, but the timeframe for that is unknown.
