A Strange Name Has Returned For Arizona’s Congressional Race
For much of American history, politicians were cut from the same cloth. Almost all had military service under their belt, and worked their way up from local politics to get to where they are now.
That's not the case anymore, and politicians have begun coming from every walk of life. Now, in Arizona, a name that may be familiar, just not from politics, is making headlines for jumping into our government.
Who is Jay Feely?
Feely began his rise to fame in 1995, when he signed with the University of Michigan to become a place kicker for their football team. He played with the Wolverines until 1998, until, undrafted, he went to play for the Florida Bobcats Arena Football Team. He bounced around in Florida until his time came in 2001, and he was signed with the Atlanta Falcons.
He spent years being traded between NFL squads until he reached the Arizona Cardinals in 2010. He stayed in Arizona through 2014, when he was traded to the Chicago Bears for a short stint. After his retirement, he went on to a lucrative career as an NFL Analyst on CBS Sports, but his story doesn't end there.

Feely for Congress
On March 31st, Yvonne Wingett Sanchez reported that Feely was seriously considering a run for Congress in Arizona's 5th District. Feely has spent much of his life post-retirement living in the Grand Canyon State, and now, he hopes to represent it.
During his days at CBS, he reportedly became very close to President Trump, even becoming a personal golf partner, which may have influenced his rise into politics. Feely joins the ranks of Tommy Tuberville, Herschel Walker, and other legendary pro athletes to make their mark on U.S. Politics.
