I remember being in elementary school during the first Obama administration. To me, none of the politics mattered much at that point, so I never tended to focus on the policy being put through.

That all changed, of course, with Michelle Obama's Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act, which drastically changed our school lunches to be healthier. Now, with the new administration, Arizona is pushing that even further.

Now, Arizona is adopting this legislation, and preparing to put it into action in schools across the state. The goal is to start healthy eating habits young, and use provided school lunches to start it.

Making Arizona Healthy Again

If this bill makes it the distance, it would drastically change Arizona's school lunches. The goal is to remove over processed food, which the bill's sponsor, Rep. Leo Biasiucci, R-Lake Havasu City, has noted have been banned across much of Europe already.

Specifically, the bill targets ingredients such as Red Dye 40 and 3, Potassium Bromate, and Titanium Dioxide. There already is some precedent in state, as the Lake Havasu Unified School District has already adopted this ban, and has found massive success with it.

Surprisingly, both sides of the aisle, Republican and Democrat, agree on this, which will likely lead to a faster process of getting this ban into our schools. Will this make Arizona a healthier state, or will it just encourage kids to bring their ultra processed food in from home?
