Is It Illegal To Wear Headphones While Driving In Arizona?
Just a few minutes from my parent's home is a route called "the Pinellas Trail". It's a county-long biking trail that I loved to ride out on for a few hours to clear my head.

Looking at Your Phone behind the Wheel is Extremely Illegal
Arizona is very lax on a lot of things, but distracted driving is not one of them. It's against the law to use your phone for any reason while operating a motor vehicle, including but not limited to:
- Holding a phone to your ear while on a call
- Reading or writing text messages
- Scrolling through social media
- Recording videos/taking pictures
So if you can't have your phone in your hand whatsoever, how are you supposed to take phone calls??

Legality of Using Headphones While Driving
Surprisingly, wearing headphones while behind the wheel is very much legal here in Arizona! In fact, it's recommended for those who don't have Bluetooth capability in their vehicles, as it allows for hands-free communication. This can be in the form of headphones, earbuds, or simply an earpiece.
It should be said, however, that Arizona recommends against the use of headphones on the road, as it may encourage distracted driving. With headphones, especially noise-cancelling or noise-reducing, you are less likely to hear emergency sirens, horns, or accidents, making you less aware behind the wheel.
