Can You Legally Speed In Arizona?
One of my proudest attributes is my driving ability. I've been known through friends and family to be one of the better drivers they all know, and that all just comes down to following the rules of the road.
Sometimes, though, I get the temptation to push the speed limit on a long commute. Is that entirely illegal in Arizona?
How Fast Can You Really Drive in Arizona?
Arizona is very clear on their speed limits. Nowhere in the state will ever ask you to drive faster than 75 mph, and that will only be on rural highways. Unless you're driving an emergency vehicle, you have to follow these limits in Arizona.
That being said, you likely won't be pulled over for speeding in the state unless you're going 20 mph or more over the speed limit. This constitutes as Criminal Speeding, and carries a much harsher sentence.

Consequences to Speeding in Arizona
When it comes to rules of the road, speeding is the one that happens more often than any other. Due to its prevalence, drivers are not pulled over for this infraction very often, but when they do, it can carry steep penalties.
Typical speeding will likely either get you a warning if your record is clean, or a ticket with a small fine you'll have to pay, and a possible insurance bump. Criminal Speeding, however, will carry much more. This is a Class 3 Misdemeanor, meaning if you are caught, you'll face three points on your license, a $500 fine, and 30 days in a jail cell.
