Trump Arrives: What Sierra Vista Thinks Of The 45th
In the midst of one of the most tumultuous elections of all time, both candidates have been touring America, trying to prove why they should represent Americans on the biggest stage.
While most candidates campaign in major cities where the voter base is larger, Donald Trump took time out of his schedule to see Sierra Vista, a border town in Southern Arizona.
Here's what they think.
Donald Trump in Sierra Vista
I had the privilege of speaking with many of the people who came out to see the candidate, and gauge their thoughts on his arrival. Most, if not all, were thrilled to see the Don visit their city, one that doesn't get as much national attention as many other areas in Arizona.
They told me it showed that Donald really cared about real Americans, the ones the media doesn't talk about. For a candidate that is adamant on representing the "real" America, this was his best move.
What Does Sierra Vista Think About Policy
As I talked with the supporters lining the streets, I asked them their thoughts on certain policy issues that Trump is campaigning on, such as abortion access, border security, and the economy. Most were in agreement that the economy and the border are the two biggest issues this country faces, and believe that Trump has the answers to fix them.
Party Lines
For example, one supporter who declined to share his name believes that the biggest issue with all of these is the political division that's been drummed up by the media. He thinks that Trump will help unify the Republican and Democrat parties to enact actual change, something he said the current administration has been unable to do.
Economy
Another man, who also declined to share his name, discussed with me his small business that he ran for a few decades, and how saddened he is to see that small businesses and the middle class are slowly fading out of fashion. He hopes to see a second Trump administration tackle the barriers for entry for these smaller entrepreneurs, but also made a point to tell those who have an interest in starting their own business to go for it, and that the only limit is what you think you can do.
Immigration
On the border, answers were mixed, but they all found common ground on the same phrase we've heard over and over again since 2016: "Build the Wall". Many discussed the importance of immigration, however, and stated they wanted to see a more secure immigration policy in place to ensure safety.
Abortion

Others, however, stood firm that the decision shouldn't be up to them, only the woman and doctor, while more were completely neutral on the issue, solely believing it should be the state's right to choose.
Wrap Up
Love him or hate him, Donald Trump has a massive support network. It seems like the entirety of Sierra Vista showed up today to see the former president, whether out of support or morbid curiosity, it doesn't matter.
Sierra Vista wanted their voices heard, and today, they were.
