Have You Been To Arizona’s Amazing “Christmas City”?
December has finally reared its head, which means it's finally time for Christmas season. All across the world, people are decorating trees, hanging lights, and brewing hot coco as they await this year's magical Christmas night.
While states like Colorado, New York, and Montana get ready for the snowfall and yearly festivities, you'd expect a desert state like Arizona to look tame by comparison.
That couldn't be further from the truth.
Arizona's 'Christmas City'
For much of its history, Christmas was just another day in Arizona. Sure, the Christians across the state celebrated the holiday, but celebrations were usually kept to a minimum. That changed in 1989 with just a few simple words.
At the end of the decade, sitting Governor Rose Moffard officially made one city in Arizona 'Christmas City'. That city was Prescott, chosen for their elaborate lighting ceremony, and since then, the city has embraced their namesake year after year.

What to Do for Christmas in Prescott
In order to do their part for the holiday season, Prescott is chock full of events all December long. From the annual Holiday Parade and Courthouse Lighting on December 7th, to the Christkindl Market on December 14th and 15th, there's so much for you and the family to do to get in the spirit of the season.
Don't forget to cap everything off on new Years Eve with the famous Whiskey Row Boot Drop, where thousands will gather to watch, you guessed it, a Boot drop on Whiskey Row to ring in the New Year.
