In the Summer of 2007, Steve Jobs stood on a stage and changed the world forever by unveiling the first iPhone.

It was a relatively simple device compared to the smartphones we carry today, but we could have never imagined the impact these small devices could cause on our modern society, especially its youth.

Teachers are Fed Up!

Nowadays, cell phones are everywhere. Everyone from CEOs to toddlers have access to one, and that's been causing a lot of trouble at Arizona schools. Students, being raised on a system of instant gratification from the content on their phones, are paying less and less attention to their studies.

Schools and their teachers have finally hit a breaking point here in Arizona. One Tucson teacher quit unceremoniously earlier last year, citing cell phone use as his sole reason, while the Mesa School District is in the midst of suing the largest social media companies in the word for the damages they've done to students attention and mental health.

Changes are Coming for Arizona Schools

This problem has gotten so bad that the state government has had to step in. Earlier this year, the Arizona House of Representatives introduced HB2484, which passed with a resounding 41-18 bipartisan vote.

The bill aims to do one thing: separate students and their cell phones. The goal would be to lock up the phones during the day, unless needed for educational purposes or in an emergency. While this would absolutely succeed in getting students off their phone during class, many parents are concerned that this will cause more chaos during emergencies, as students wouldn't be able to reach their families at a moments notice if needed.
