Are You Being Exploited By Your Job? What Arizona Law Says
In the early 20th Century, labor laws were a rarity across America. Children were working in meat packing plants, and steel workers were honing their craft with no protective equipment.
While America is much more strict with how employers treat their employees now, some still find ways to cross the line.
Are You Working Too Many Hours?
We all want to continue growing our financial worth, and the easiest way to do that is by working as much as possible. Sure, it's soul sucking, but that paycheck always makes it worth it. The Fair Labor Standards Act keeps a close eye on this at all times, though, ensuring employers do not schedule a single employee for over 40 hours a week.
If one is scheduled longer than that, they are required to be paid overtime, or 1.5 times their hourly wage. For example, if you normally make $14.35 an hour (Arizona's current minimum wage), you would be required by law to be paid $21.53 an hour for every hour you work over 40 in a week.

Give Me a Break!
Imagine you've been working for nine hours in a day, and you've been hoping for just a short break. Well, unfortunately, breaks are not required by Arizona law, meaning your boss could technically withhold a break from you.
If they do decide to give you a break, however, they do have a few rules to follow. Any break under 20 minutes is required to be paid, while breaks over 30 minutes must be unpaid.
If your employer is breaking any of these rules, among a litany of other workplace violations, learn your rights and take action. OR, you better start getting that resume together again.
