Why Your Arizona Weed May Not Be Legal
In November of 2020, Arizona shocked the United States and legalized recreational Marijuana. It had been a long time coming, and now, anyone looking to chill out for a night can grab a joint, edible, or anything in between from legal dispensaries across the state.
Dispensaries aren't the only place you can snag the wacky tobbaccy, though, and Arizona plans to crack down on these unauthorized sellers.
Non-Legal Marijuana in Arizona
While you can legally buy marijuana and related substances at dispensaries located across Arizona, there are also plenty of places you can buy unregulated THC products. THC stands for tetrahydrocannabinol, which is the active ingredient in marijuana.
Many retailers have been selling unregulated products with THC in them, such as infused drinks, edibles, and even unregulated vape cartridges. Due to their status outside the FDA, these can be incredibly dangerous, and it's no wonder why the state wants them off the shelves.

The Ban Moving Forward
On Monday, March 24th, Attorney General Kris Mayes released a statement, disclosing that stores selling these unauthorized THC products had 30 days to remove them, or face consequences.
She has given agency to local police and sheriff's offices to enforce civil and criminal penalties for those breaking these laws. Whether this will actually be pulled off is another matter. The 2018 Federal Farm Bill does specifically allow extracted THC to be placed in products intended for human consumption, but Arizona's personal farm bill, brought in the same year by former Gov. Ducey, does not.
If this bill does go through, unauthorized retailers could face fines up to $20,000, and up to $1 Million if the store continues to defy the law.
