Illusion

For nearly two weeks, a stray German Shepherd has captured the hearts and minds of the animal community in Sierra Vista. Dubbed, "Illusion" by Animal Care and Control in Sierra Vista, he has eluded everyone who has tried to rescue him.

First identified by a local Facebook user, a rally cry had been sent out for volunteers to gather and try to bring Illusion to safety. He'd been running around local shopping centers, and many are worried he might head toward traffic or that a person may be injured while trying to help.

Assistance: Animal Care and Control

As mentioned in a previous article, Illusion - so dubbed because of his tendency to run and hide when he senses humans approaching - is still on the run. Sierra Vista Animal Care Officers (ACOs) Brittney Schultz and Dana Kennedy have been working diligently with multiple attempts to gain his trust and ultimately lure him to safety.

ACO is setting up a humane trap to safely bring Illusion into the Nancy J Brua Animal Care Center so they can assess his needs and care for him. They're asking members of the public to be allow Animal Care Officers to give him food, so they secure a single location where he can be brought to safety.

Contact ACO or Dispatch

I spoke to ACO Tammy Gould-Berry. She is imploring the public not to chase Illusion or attempt to catch him or offer food. Instead, they are asking individuals to call the non-emergency dispatch line at (520) 803-3555 or call the Nancy J Brua Animal Care Center during operating hours at (520) 458-4151.
