Winter is right around the corner, and Arizonans are waiting patiently for the long, scorching hot days to turn into cozy winter afternoons. While much of the state doesn't get a break from the unbearable heat, the more mountainous regions turn into a winter paradise.

Arizona's favorite winter destination has some changes for their opening day.

Arizona Snowbowl

Located in Arizona's northern mountains, the Arizona Snowbowl is a fan-favorite vacation spot for those who want to enjoy skiing down the slopes without having to haul up to Colorado. Thee Snowbowl is a ski resort in the San Francisco Mountains up in Flagstaff, and prides itself as the premiere location for winter sports in the state of Arizona.

The resort itself has been active since 1938. With eight different lifts and 59 trails for you to explore, the Flagstaff mountains are your playground to ski, hike, or just chill. It's no wonder everyone in the state can't wait for it to open, just to see a glimpse outside of desert life.

New Snowbowl Opening Date

Initially, the Snowbowl was planned to open its doors to visitors on November 22nd, 2024. Its opening is usually tied to the amount of snow on the slopes, a vital component for, y'know, snow skiing.

There's a bit of a change at the last minute, however. The Snowbowl will be pushing its opening date up two weeks to Friday, November 8th. Why? It's simple, there's more snow than anticipated. This allowed for the crews and staff to prepare the mountain for visitors well ahead of schedule, and get you on the slopes even sooner.
