This Arizona City Is The Sunniest In The WORLD
Florida may be known as "The Sunshine State", but that doesn't mean it's the sunniest state. The rainstorms that blow through once a day make sure of that.
Arizona, on the other hand, is about as sunny as you can get. With very little consistent cloud cover, we get more sunshine than most of the United States, but one city gets more than the rest of the world.
The Sunniest City in the World
While many cities across the Grand Canyon State have a claim to be one of the sunniest in the world, only one can stand atop the mountain, and that, my friends, is Yuma, AZ.
Yuma holds the Guinness World Record for the "Sunniest City on Earth", averaging a whopping 4,015.3 hours of sunshine per year, meaning the city receives sunshine during 91% of it's possible hours. Compare this to the U.S. average of 2734.6 hours, and you can see why Yuma's so special.

Arizona's Not Done There
Aside from Yuma, Arizona hosts three of the top ten sunniest cities in the U.S. Coming in at number two, just below Yuma is (surprise, surprise) Phoenix, which is not only number two in the U.S., but number two in the world, averaging 3,871.6 hours of sunshine each year.
Tucson (#4) and Flagstaff (#10) round out the list, with 3,806 and 3,475.4 hours of sunshine per year respectively. The lack of moisture in the Arizona air, even with monsoon season, is low enough that cloud cover is a rarity across the state, making Arizona the true Sunshine State.
