The first time I saw Arizona with my own two eyes, one thing stuck out to me above the rest: the mountains. They were everywhere, dotting the landscapes, and towering above me no matter where I went.

Some of my favorite places in Arizona have been atop these mountains, whether trails or towns, and today we're going to look at what I consider the best mountain town in the Grand Canyon State.

Never Trust Online Surveys

Recently, an online study by wegodating.com has been making waves for their list of the "Best Mountain Towns in the United States". The list itself is horrible, but the part that really stuck out was its number one choice: Tucson, AZ.

Now, this wasn't just ranked as the best mountain town in Arizona (which would already be egregious), but in the entire UNITED STATES. WHAT???? Off the top of my head I could name at least 15 places that would be a better choice for number one, which still seems too little, because, we may forget, TUCSON IS NOT IN THE MOUNTAINS.

So, What Is Arizona's Best Mountain Town?

Listen, I love Tucson, I really do, but listing it as the best mountain town in the United States, or even Arizona is just absurd. There are so many incredible options, with some not even getting listed. For my money, there's only two Arizona locations that deserve the honor of being number one.

Those would have to be Flagstaff and Bisbee. Flagstaff could literally be the picture in a dictionary next to the word "Mountain", and Bisbee still stands as Arizona's coolest hidden gem. both of these are actually in the mountains as well, with Bisbee's architecture literally reaching up and around the peaks of the Mule Mountains.

This is objective folks, and I'm sure you have your favorite mountain town from across the state, but these two choices seem leagues better than Tucson as number one.
