Will Your A/C Give Out On You This Arizona Summer?
The summers here are brutal. Everyone's just doing their best to stay out of the sun and attempt to stay cool. While there are a plethora of options to ensure you're chilled out this summer, the simplest option will always be to stay at home with your A/C.
Unfortunately, Air Conditioning takes a lot of power, and hotter months can cause a complete shutdown, crippling entire communities. Will we see the same this year?
The Limited Capacity of Power Grids
Power Grids aren't unlimited resources. There's only so many requests it can make before completely burning itself out. When this happens, blackouts occur, and in the heat of the day this can prove to be deadly.
Grid failure ensures that certain communities are without electricity, which may seem like a fun, quick blackout, but can soon turn into a burning, sweltering mess. With heatwaves reaching record temperatures this year, fear has begun to run that the grids won't be able to handle the demand for power across the state.

Not to Worry!
Luckily, The Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) is confident in their productivity. Utility companies across the state have ensured that they can handle up to 23,000 gigawatts of electricity to send out across Arizona. This should more than enough cover the demand statewide.
Residents are also asked to try and keep utility usage to a minimum. I know, I know, you don't want to, but there's plenty of non-noticeable ways to keep your electric bill down. The ACC recommends turning off unneeded electrics from four to seven p.m., or simply just raising the thermostat a degree or two.
Luckily, we shouldn't be in for any electric blackouts this summer, but stay cautious when using your electricity this summer, and stay cool!😎
