The Surprising Reason Why Deforestation Is GOOD For Arizona
I care deeply about our environment. There is no Planet B, and we need to take the best care we have of our Earth now, while we have it.

Why Arizona Needs to Clean Up
As fires began to rage across southern California at the beginning of the year, Arizona started to get worried. The climates of both are incredibly similar, and the likelihood that fires of the same caliber could start up here became much too large to ignore.
The largest issue is the congestion of plant life in certain areas. Forests show a huge problem, as they've grown too thick and could ignite into a wildfire that's unable to be quelled. So how can we stop this, and fireproof these areas?

Salt River Project Forest Thinning
Sometimes you have to fight fire with fire, and that's exactly what the Salt River Project plans to do. They are currently undergoing their forest thinning project, which involves prescribed burns and large-scale logging campaigns.
The plan is simple, cut down sections of forest to clear congestion, and then set prescribed burns every five years to ensure a wildfire will not rage outside of the expected areas. This is the sort of necessary evil we need to see in Arizona, in order to better protect our forests and the livelihood of the state as a whole.
