When I first moved here, one of my friends told me a story about how she woke up one morning and felt something strange next to her under the sheets. When she tore the comforter off the bed, she found a very much alive scorpion, just waiting for her to make the wrong move.

Since then, I've made sure to check everywhere I step, sit, or sleep in the fear one of Arizona's creepy crawlies sneaking up on me.

This is a situation I would've never seen coming.

The Mystery Rider

On November 13th, a man by the name of Aaron Ricks was on his way from Mesa to Scottsdale noticed... something underneath his truck. He initially thought it may have been a plastic bag he'd run over, but upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a snake peeking its head out from under the back of the truck.

He quickly called the non-emergency line, and the Scottsdale Fire Department was able to safely remove the reptile.

This Incredibly Deadly Animal Can Only be Found in Arizona!

Where Did the Snake Come From?

Animals found underneath cars don't usually end up in a good spot, but luckily this snake only had minor burns, so what kind of snake was it? That's where the fun starts. This was a Boa Constrictor, a species of snake that is not native to Arizona, and primarily found in South America.

The theory is that this was someone's pet who escaped, due to its condition and look, but this isn't confirmed. The Arizona Herpetological Society recovered the snake after the incident, and have stated that if someone doesn't claim the snake as their pet soon, it will live the rest of its life in their sanctuary in north Scottsdale.
