Arizona Natives Make History, And Have Fun Doing It
Are you a risk taker? A thrill seeker? Do you fight for every ounce of adrenaline you can get? If you answered yes to all those questions, you're probably a fan of amusement parks.
Hosting of some of the most adrenaline-filled experiences known to man, the rollercoasters that populate these parks are a staple attraction for anyone looking for a fun day off.
Sunrise Park Resort
Just west of Greer, Arizona lies the Fort Apache Reservation, home to the White Mountain Apache Tribe. The reservation houses Sunrise Park Resort, the largest ski resort in the state of Arizona. While they may be known for their alpine skiing, the resort is open year-round, and shows a heavy focus on their summertime activities as well.
Whether it's mountain bike riding, archery, or just taking a look around the massive general store, Sunrise Park has been a staple of Arizona vacations for what feels like time immemorial.
Alpine Coaster
Opening just this past weekend, Sunrise Park unveiled a new attraction: The Sunrise Apache Alpine Coaster. This state-of-the-art coaster is built on over 3,000 feet of track and is controlled by the rider to ensure speeds everyone is comfortable.
While the coaster itself is impressive, it's background is where history was made. At its completion on July 20th, 2024, the Alpine Coaster became the first ever Tribal Rollercoaster in the United States. This is an absolutely massive development, and will likely see coasters like this popping up more and more.
