Scams have become so commonplace in today's society. every single person having a supercomputer in their pocket makes creating and receiving these scams much easier than it used to.
They've evolved along with our technological prowess, and the latest one hitting Arizona is particularly dangerous.
National Romance Scam
Our story starts in the Valley of the Sun, where one woman got her happily ever after, or so she thought. She had met a man named Rob Scotto on an online dating site, and instantly felt the attraction. The two began a long-distance relationship, where the woman says she felt like they would be together forever.
That all came crashing down when she learned the truth. Rob Scotto was actually a man named Robert Giuliano, a multi-state criminal on New York Department of Correction's Most Wanted List who ran multiple romance scams across the country, making away with thousands of dollars in the process.

What is the Scam?
Aside from stealing her heart, Giuliano also stole a sizeable amount of money from the women he courted. He would pretend to be going on trips (heck, he might have actually been going on them), and ask for the women he was in contact with to transfer him money as "his credit card was lost". He promised he would pay them back, can you guess what he did?
Giuliano stole over $30,000 from one woman alone. He would stay in constant contact, affirming the feelings given to him in order to lure his victims into a false sense of security.
Giuliano was finally arrested in Scottsdale on December 12th, and is currently facing extradition to New York, where he will be properly tried.
The Valley woman victimized by Giuliano only had one thing to say: "Don't ignore the red flags. Trust your instincts and trust other people's".
