Recently, new changes have been coming to agricultural communities in Arizona, which could revolutionize the game for good. Maybe the most exciting piece of new tech is the LaserWeeder, an automated weed killer powered by AI.
This machine, which is twenty feet wide and almost five tons uses AI to scrape through millions of images to differentiate weeds from crops, and then proceeds to kill those weeds with state of the art lasers, ensuring they cannot grow back. This is one of dozens of new AI advancements that have been sweeping Arizona Agriculture, but what's the benefit?

Along with automated feeders and seeders, this equipment can get incredibly expensive, so why go for it? Arizona farmers believe the cost will pay for itself. It comes down to a simple decision between paying a worker $20 per hour or paying around $4 per hour to recoup the cost of the machines.
All in all, the workforce isn't dead yet, but it could come soon. With automation becoming the cheaper, more reliable option, where will farmhands go to make their wages? The hope is that this will open new doors to workers in Arizona without having to rely on back breaking labor, but the future is still uncertain...
