Viral videos are a core part of modern pop culture. Whether made by major content creators, or simply a funny moment captured on video, anything can capture the attention of America.

Through the past 20 years, certain viral videos have permanently changed the way we talk and communicate as a species, creating population-spanning inside jokes.

One of the most famous was filmed right here in Arizona.

Road Work Ahead?

On March 20th, 2016, popular YouTuber Drew Gooden posted a video on the now extinct Vine. The video shows him driving down a road when he sees an orange "Road Work Ahead" sign. He looks at the camera and says "Road work ahead? Uh, yeah, I sure hope it does."

The video exploded in popularity, gaining over 10 million views, and soon becoming homogenous with internet culture. So homogenous in fact, that Gooden's face at the end of the video has become a stand in for the phrase "I sure hope it does" on social media.

I Sure Hope It Does!

For much of the time after its release, I and many others believed this video was taken somewhere in California. Gooden has many friends and collaborators in Los Angeles, so this wouldn't have been a far guess. Turns out it was a little closer to home than expected.

Popular streamer RAINBOLT, known for his freakish ability to tell exactly where in the world something is by one image alone, decided to tackle this video. He was, within what seems like seconds, able to decipher exactly where the video was taken, and it's nowhere else by Tucson, Arizona.

The exact location of the video was at 3395 E Valencia Road, so next time you find yourself around Tucson, remember that the road does, in fact, work ahead.
