I've been playing a lot of Grand Theft Auto recently. Sure, the bank heists, spy missions, and drug running is fun, but there's one thing I play the game for. It's the ability to drive through the city streets of Los Santos as fast and reckless as I want.

There's a small part in all of us that craves the ability to fly down the interstate at 120mph without a care in the world. For the time being, thrill seekers looked off-road for their speed fix.

Arizona just put the steps forward to kill that, too.

Sedona's OHV Speed Limit

On September 10th, 2024, 43 Sedona residents brought a petition before the city council to impose a speed limit on a short desert road in order to minimize noise in the area from off-road vehicles.

The vote passed the city council unanimously on October 8th, and the plan began to go into action. The Sedona police is sending extra patrols to off-road areas of interest, and the city will be putting up signs banning loud music from OHVs.

Parents Could be Ticketed in Arizona Because of This New Law

When Will This Affect the Rest of the State?

For those of you that want to ride your off-road vehicles as fast and loud as possible, I've got good news and bad news. The good news is, this is only applicable in Sedona, and for the time being, only one road in Sedona.

The bad news is, the motion passed almost immediately, with not one citizen or city council member stepping in to argue against it. That shows that the people of Arizona are incredibly open to the idea of slowing down OHVs, and it could be coming to your city next.
