Can You Legally Gift Someone A Gun In Arizona?
The Second Amendment has been a defining piece of America since its inception. This allows all able U.S. citizens to own firearms, and most of this country has taken advantage of that.
Buying a gun, however, is a long and arduous process, so is it legal to just give one of these weapons to someone?
Legally Gifting a Gun
Arizona is an Open Carry state, meaning we have much more lax laws around firearms than most of the country. Due to this, there is no law prohibiting you from gifting someone a gun, as long as they're allowed to have one (convicted felons, etc. are obviously not eligible).
It is up to the gift giver to determine if the recipient is allowed to own a firearm, but if all is in order, you are more than welcome to gift them with their newest gun.

Can You Gift Your Child a Gun?
Especially if you're a hunting family, you may want to buy your child their first rifle, even if they are under the age of 18. This is where things get complicated. It is a Class 6 Felony to sell or gift a gun to a minor without consent from parents, but if the gun is being used at a firing range or while hunting with parents, you're golden.
Handguns are a slightly different story, as these cannot be sold to anyone under 18, and even 21 in some cases. As parents, however, you are still allowed to gift these to your child, even if they are a minor.
Regardless of what you plan to do with them, make sure you practice proper firearm safety at all times.
