
Sierra Vista Police Arrest Man After Volatile Altercation

Nearly every day this week, we've received a press release from the city of Sierra Vista outlining yet another incident leading to an arrest.

Domestic Violence Incident Leads to Arrest in Sierra Vista
Following a tense domestic violence incident, the Sierra Vista Police Department (SVPD) arrested a suspect on Thursday after he barricaded himself in a room after a violent altercation with another member of the household.
Thursday afternoon, officers from the Sierra Vista Police Department SVPD responded to a domestic violence call in Sierra Vista.

According to the report, the suspect had threatened the victim and punched a hole in the wall. When officers arrived, they found the suspect had locked himself in a room, which caused concern for the responders because they feared he may have had access to weapons.
Officers quickly established a perimeter around the residence and called in additional resources, including crisis negotiators. The negotiators successfully convinced the suspect to leave the room without further incident, and the man was arrested.

Investigating the Scene
The officers investigated the scene and discovered the suspect had allegedly poured degreaser on food found in the home. The suspect, it seems, intended to poison the other person in the house.
The suspect was charged with adding poison or other harmful substances to food and domestic violence criminal damage. He was booked into the Cochise County Jail.
