DON’T BREATHE: Arizona Has The Worst Air In America
There are three things, only three, that you need to stay alive day in and day out. That would be Food, Water, and Oxygen, and none come in more abundance than oxygen.
It surrounds us at any given moment, but don't get it twisted, it's not an infinite resource. We have to take car of our air if we want any hope at a future, and Arizona's doing a pretty bad job at that.
How Did Arizona Get Here?
Recently, Arizona got some bad news. The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality sent a warning to multiple Arizona cities that their air quality levels were below the acceptable reading. Cities with poor air quality are rated as having either moderate, marginal, serious, or severe nonattainment.
Maricopa and Pinal counties have both just been designated as serious nonattainment areas, with a likely chance that could be moved to severe by 2027.This comes from a mixture of ozone pollution (UV rays making it to ground level due to a hole in the ozone layer) and standard air pollution, like car exhaust and industrial plants.

What's the Plan to Fix This?
Luckily, the GLOR project is here to help! Standing for Ground Level Ozone Research, this hosts experts from dozens of fields, including ASU, the EPA, and NASA.
These experts plan to study the worsening air quality in these areas, and see if solutions can be devised that will benefit the greater humanity. Progress will begin this spring, and research will likely take a year to complete.
