On Thursday, October 17th, The McCain Institute invited several high-profile politicians across the state to discuss the impending threat of a massive wave of misinformation. They came to the conclusion that this tech will not help skew votes, but instead mislead voters to vote for something that a certain politician might not stand for.
At the presentation, Secretary of State Adrian Fontes generated an AI video of himself to show how misleading an easy to create these videos are. The discussion immediately became 1000x more aware of the harm this could cause, seeing it play out right in front of them.
While no policy or law has been drafted to contain the spread of AI misinformation, local and state politicians are working around the clock to ensure a free and fair election takes place.
