As Rent Increases Across Arizona, Could You Be Evicted?
In my time living outside of the nest I was raised in, I've been incredibly lucky to find the best rent possible, great locations with low prices. Unfortunately, that can't always last.
Rent has been steadily increasing across Arizona, and we're about to break the record of the most evictions in a single year. Could you be affected?
Rent is Rising in Arizona
2005 was seen as the worst year for renters in Arizona history. With 83,867 evections in Maricopa County alone, this was seen as devastating to the economic and housing markets in the Grand Canyon State.
We seem to be heading back in that direction, with rent increasing by a staggering 11% in Pima county between 2013 and 2018. It's only gotten worse from there, and evictions have become more and more commonplace. These two trends go hand in hand, and now Arizonans are worried they might be next on the chopping block.

Eviction Hotspots in Arizona
Maricopa County seems to be hit with this the hardest, with 10 separate ZIP codes hosting over 1,300 evictions in the past year. Areas like Central Tempe (85282) and East Central Mesa (85202) are evicting a little over a thousand people per year, nearly 50% of their population.
Northwest Central Phoenix is where the issues start to arrive, with ZIP Codes like 85029, 85021, and 85015 all evicting over 1,600 people per year. The biggest culprit? Code 85301 in Central Glendale with a staggering 2,449 evictions, nearly 59% of the population.
Luckily, it seems Maricopa will be hit with the largest force of this, so most other metro areas in Arizona can breathe a sigh of relief... for now.
