Big USPS Changes Coming. What Arizona Needs To Know
There may not be a better government service than the United States Postal Service. They run on time, never miss their routes, and are vastly cheaper than every single alternative.
Unfortunately, the USPS does require money to operate as efficiently as they do, and that sometimes means raising prices.
Stamps May Go Up Again
One of the more miniscule changes the USPS has made in the past year is raising the prices of Forever Stamps, which cover the cost of a one-ounce letter. The price raised twice in 2024: from 66 to 68 center in January, and from 68 to 73 cents in July. Luckily it seems that there's no change for the first half of 2025, but one could be coming later this summer.
Shipping Will Cost More
The price you'll pay to ship your items will also be receiving a bit of a hike. Each of these took effect on January 19th, 2025.
- Priority Mail: 3.2% Increase
- Priority Mail Express: 3.2% Increase
- USPS Ground Advantage: 3.9% Increase
- Parcel Select: 9.2% Increase

You'll Have to Wait Longer for Mail
The most major change is the scaling back of delivery targets in 2025. This just means that there's a larger chance your package is delivered a day or two late. For example, 87% of First Class (two day) mail is expected to arrive on time, as compared to the 93% they held in 2024.
While this is disappointing, it's a much more attainable goal than 2024's, which is likely why they opted to cut their odds, and make do with what they can. Luckily, the USPS works unlike any other federal agency, and it's likely they won't disappoint.
