Community Shows Out At Tombstone Blood Drive
Blood. We couldn't exist without it. The fluid courses through our veins, giving us life, keeping us warm, and ensuring we have oxygen flowing through our system.
Sure, we need our blood, but we don't need all of it. That's where blood drives come into play. People from around their communities can come together and donate their healthy blood for those who need it more.
Tombstone Shows Out
On August 12th, 2025, I was lucky enough to go visit the Tombstone Blood Drive at American Legion Post 24. Now, while this event was held at the American Legion, it was still open to the public, allowing anyone who felt like giving to walk in and make a difference.
I was lucky enough to chat with volunteers and donors about their experiences. While many came out of the goodness of their hearts, others were brought in by their own experiences of friends or family receiving life saving donations.

How Important are Blood Drives?
Blood donations are not just a nice thing to do, they're vital. In the United States, someone needs a blood transfusion or platelets every TWO SECONDS. When you donate, each pint can save three lives of anyone across America.
This blood cannot be manufactured or produced, meaning the Red Cross relies on you to keep America living healthy. Donations can't just happen sparingly, though. Red Blood Cells must be used in 42 days or less. Luckily, an estimated 6.8 Million Americans donate in a year, ensuring the blood banks never run dry.
If you'd like to donate in Tombstone, their drives occur every 59 days, with the next taking place on October 14th.
