Thick is in! That proves to be true in the feline circuit as well.

A 30-pound cat named Thicken Nugget in Indiana has gone viral not just because of his size, but because of what he is doing about it.

Thicken Nugget's Dramatic Weight Loss & Exercise Regimen

Thicken Nugget is slimming down using an exercise regimen more popularly reserved for dogs. A place called the Canine Aquatic Center is helping him swim his way thin.

In seven weeks, he's lost five pounds. They're hoping he can drop another 10 and eventually lose half his bodyweight.

Thankfully, Ty, aka Thicken Nugget, is getting monetary help from all around America.

The Vanderburgh Humane Society, who is helping the stray rehabilitate, said they are thankful for the outpouring of help offerings for Thicken Nugget:

"He is swimming twice a week, is much more mobile and down from 30 pounds to 26.8. He’s even swimming across the pool all by himself. Go Ty, go!"

While it seems cute and cheeky, the Humane Society says it's no laughing matter.

Mackenzee McKittrick and other volunteers at the shelter tell local station WEHT that the cat's size had impacted his joints and, if left unchecked, could cause spinal damage.

"A lot of people think it's cute when it's like that Garfield-type cat, but it's not cute," McKittrick says. "Ty's quality of life is affected at this point, so we want to give him a good quality of life, and we know that the adoptive home is going to adhere to his diet and exercise restrictions."

Like most cats, Thicken Nugget didn't love swimming at first, but has taken a liking to it and looks forward to jumping into the pool. He is already more mobile and walking around the Humane Society in good spirits.

The lucky future adopter of this king will have to abide by his food and exercise regimen to ensure he has his best paw forward and is ready to live a long and prosperous life.
