A New, Easier Way to License Your Dog in Sierra Vista
We're all looking for ways to save time, which is why I'm excited about this new service from the City of Sierra Vista.
Sierra Vista dog owners just got an upgrade in convenience. The city just rolled out DocuPet, its new dog‑licensing program. It’ll help you keep your pet legally licensed, and this new online tool will make it easier than ever.
What is DocuPet?
According to a City of Sierra Vista press release, “DocuPet to offer residents a convenient, modern licensing system designed to protect pets and bring them home safely if they go missing.”
In Sierra Vista, only about 3,000 dogs are currently licensed, even though it’s required by city ordinance. Owners either forget or don’t realize they need to do it. This new online program should help.

Rolling Out the DocuPet with the Nancy J. Brua Animal Care Center
I spoke with Arleen Garcia from the Nancy J. Brua Animal Care Center, and she’s genuinely excited about the change.
She told me the biggest barrier to pet licensing has always been time. People are busy, and making a trip across town just to renew a dog license isn’t always realistic.
With the new system, owners can handle licensing online, at their own pace, without rearranging their day. Garcia said she believes this will help more residents stay up‑to‑date and keep their pets protected, especially since licensing plays a key role in rabies control.

Why This Matters for Sierra Vista Pet Owners
The city’s partnership with DocuPet brings a smoother, more modern experience to something that used to feel like paperwork.
Dog owners can now register their pets online. They can also easily update info and renew without setting foot in an office. Plus, the Nancy J. Brua Animal Care Center will be able to focus more on helping animals and less on administrative bottlenecks.
