Holiday Shipping Stress? Arizona Deadlines Made Simple
The holidays are getting closer, and finding the perfect gift for everyone is only half the battle. Whether you're ordering online or shipping packages from Arizona to other states, make sure the perfect gift not only arrives, but gets to where it's headed on time.
I shop local with small businesses, but with major retailers, I shop online as often as possible this time of year. It stresses me out a little less. On the downside, I'm also a huge procrastinator, so I start to panic as the date gets closer.
No matter where you fall on the spectrum, holiday shopping and shipping, we've got the information you need to help lower your blood pressure and enjoy the season.

If you're trying to get packages to Arizona, some online retailers will offer a few different carriers and delivery methods. I always try to find the sweet spot between speed and price, so here's some advice.
One of the most economical ways to ship packages is through the United States Postal Service (USPS). If this is your choice, mark your calendar, because these are the deadlines you don't want to miss to ensure you get your packages on time.
- USPS Ground Advantage and First-Class must go out by December 17th
- Priority Mail by December 18th
- Priority Express by December 20th

If you've got a little more to spend on shipping, you might consider shipping with a dedicated package carrier. Here's what you need to know:
- FedEx gives you a little wiggle room with Ground Economy until December 15
- With FedEx Express Saver, you have until December 20
- FedEx's overnight services can be shipped as late as December 23.
- UPS Ground varies by location
- UPS 3-Day Select is December 19th
- UPS 2nd Day Air is December 22nd
- UPS Next Day Air is December 23rd
If you’re still ordering gifts on December 23rd, you’re basically paying for Santa’s sleigh fuel.
Which Carriers Actually Deliver on Time?
I always worry that even with upgraded or expedited shipping, my packages still won't make it in time. Here’s the reality check: UPS consistently leads the pack with about 96.5% on-time deliveries during peak season, while FedEx lands around 91.8%.
USPS will save you money, but give them a little extra time to get the goods into your mailbox. USPS delivery rates trail behind at 90.4%. USPS is cheap and everywhere, but reliability dips when the holiday chaos hits.
