Bird Flu Just Hit Another Horrific Milestone In Arizona
We just can't catch a break, huh? Five years ago, we were ravaged by the COVID-19 pandemic, and now, not even half a decade later, we're staring down the barrel of another international pandemic.
H5N1, otherwise known as Bird Flu, has been spreading across the United States in the past few months, and its effects are about to get even worse.
What is Bird Flu?
Avian Influenza, or Bird Flu, is not a new disease. Its spread, however, is unprecedented. The disease is not meant to spread to humans, but the past few months have shown us that life does, indeed, find a way.
The disease can be picked up through contact to animals with the virus in their system, such as wild bird flocks, chicken pens, and wild animals. The symptoms are nearly indistinguishable from the common flu, but can reach much more severe levels.

More of Arizona is Becoming Infected
Recently, a major step for the disease was taken. Since January, the state has been testing every dairy farm for signs of Bird Flu, but this past weekend, they found their first live case. The herd the disease was found in has been quarantined, though they are not showing any signs of the virus.
The Department of Agriculture has made it clear that pasteurized milk is still safe to drink, and poses a very low threat to the general public. Almost all of the 68 confirmed cases across America have come from people getting in close contact with infected animals.
So stay away from birds that look a little sick, and you should have nothing to worry about.
