Arizona Renters, Rejoice! THIS Is Nuisance Finally Leaving
As a recent college graduate, and still relatively young person, I've had to come to terms with the fact that I likely will never own a home of my own. The market has become predatory and unmanageable, and there seems to be no hope of a change any time soon.
My only hope of keeping a roof over my head is to rent, but that market has become just as bad, if not worse, siphoning every cent out of people who can barely scrape by.
Arizona's finally trying to make a change.
Rental Tax in Arizona
In many states across America, including Arizona, there stands a rental tax. This is typically a flat fee that is added on to rental costs for properties that are leased for 30 days or more. This bumps the already staggeringly high prices even higher, and leads towards incredibly predatory practiced by landlords in the state.
For example, Phoenix has a 2.3% Rental Tax, which means that that percentage of the rent will be added on to the final bill.
Not fun.

Goodbye to Tax!
The day Arizona renters have dreamed of has finally arrived. In 2023, Arizona legislature passed a bill banning the practice, and decided to wait two years to allow cities to prepare accordingly.
And so, on January 1st, 2025, Rental Tax will be abolished across the state of Arizona. Property owners will be expected, by law, to remove the charge from their bills, and register the property with the county assessor to comply with the Arizona Department of Revenue..
