Why Is The Arizona State Fair So Expensive??
State and County Fairs are some of the best family events you could ask for. Full of shows, rides, and greasy foods, it's an event for everyone that communities rally around year in and year out.
Unfortunately, the 2024 Arizona State fair seems less focused on community than ever before, and people are not happy about it.
Why Are People Avoiding the Arizona State Fair?
Opening on September 20th this year, the 2024 edition of the state fair looked to be a blowout. Guests flooded the gates on day one only to find one glaring problem: it cost an arm and a leg to do anything.
From a $15 entrance fee, to the $50 ticket wristband you'd need to ride anything, fair guests began having second thoughts. For a family of four, it would cost $260 just to get the basic fairground experience, and that's not even mentioning food, games, and shows.

The Cochise County Fair is Unique to Arizona. Here's Why.
What's Raised the Fair's Prices?
Obviously, rising prices would make anyone second guess a visit year by year, so why do they keep going up? Many vendors have spoken out about the issue, stating that they feel an obligation to customers to provide prices they'll appreciate, but with rising inflation, that's becoming harder and harder.
The Fair itself has tried to mitigate these concerns by hosting promotions, allowing families to come by on days when tickets and ride vouchers will be cheaper. This will stimulate the vendor economy by giving people more spending money to use while exploring the grounds.
The Arizona State fair runs until October 27th.
