Why Did the Standoff Occur?
On June 25th, 2025, an investigation began after a report was made to SVPD about an underage girl being involved in a sexual relationship with an adult man. The investigation lasted for six weeks while SVPD detectives put together a case.
Eventually, probable cause was discovered, and SVPD made their move. At 1:10 pm, detectives arrived at the suspect's residence to make an arrest, but unfortunately, he wasn't giving up so easily. When contact was attempted, the suspect quickly barricaded himself in the home, which led to the escalation.

The Standoff
As the suspect refused officer's orders, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) was called in to assist. Initially, crisis negotiators resorted to reason to get the suspect to surrender, but to no avail. At this point, SWAT breached the door and used non-lethal pepper balls to coerce the suspect out, but again, no luck.
Finally, a member of SWAT spotted the suspect and ordered him out of the home. After nearly two hours of a standoff, at 3:30 pm, the suspect surrendered. He is now facing three counts of sexual conduct with a minor, four counts of sexual assault with a minor under 15, one count of sexual conduct with a minor over 15, and resisting arrest.
He awaits his court date at Cochise County Jail.
