Even if you didn't have one in your hometown, the concept of "Makeout Point" should be familiar to. Usually used in coming-of-age films, these were spots where angsty, hormonal teenagers could get some privacy with their prom date.

While teens take refuge off the beaten path to finally get intimate, it's not entirely legal in the state of Arizona.

What is the Legality of Getting Intimate in Your Car in Arizona?

Let's start with the basics. Technically, and I mean TECHNICALLY, there is no law in Arizona that prohibits sexual actions inside of a car.

What Arizona law does prohibit is doing the deed in public, and based on the mobility of cars, that's exactly what most people are at risk for. The state can also charge you with indecent exposure or public sexual indecency charges, neither of which are going to look good on your resume.

Indecent exposure is defined by exposing any intimate body parts where someone else can see them. Sexual indecency, on the other hand is defined by engaging in sexual actions in public. This charge can only be levied if authorities think the involved parties intended to cause alarm or stress to those in the area.

What Are the Punishments for Getting Intimate in Your Car?

Depending on what specifically you did, the punishments range from mildly inconvenient to life-ruining.

Getting nailed with an indecent exposure charge will earn you a misdemeanor, except in the case that someone 15 years or younger catches you, in which case the charge raises to a felony. Sexual indecency carries the same charge, with the same caveat if you are caught by a minor 15 or younger.

If you happen to rack up a felony charge because of this, you could lose your right to vote, right to own firearms, and may have to register as a sex offender.

Whatever the case, these are charges that will end up on your permanent record, and may end up ruining your life. So stay safe, and get busy in the comfort of your own home.
