Man Arrested After Domestic Violence Incident, SWAT Called to Scene

The Sierra Vista Police Department (SVPD) arrested a barricaded suspect Saturday morning. The arrest was made following a response to a reported domestic violence incident that happened at an apartment in the 90 block of Kings Way.

According to a press release from the City of Sierra Vista, officers were called at about 7:45 a.m. on August 29th after a 911 caller reported hearing screaming from inside the apartment.

When officers arrived, they also heard the screaming. Police made contact with a female occupant and safely removed her from the situation. Medical staff later assessed and treated her injuries at a hospital.

The Law Enforcement Response

According to the press release, a male occupant had barricaded himself inside the apartment, which prompted officers to establish a perimeter around the area. Because of the circumstances and the barricaded suspect, the Regional SWAT Team responded along with negotiators.

Police report that they used less-lethal tactics in order to take the man into custody. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was medically cleared before being booked into jail.

What charges is the suspect facing?

The suspect was booked into the Cochise County Jail on domestic violence charges that include attempted homicide, aggravated assault, kidnapping, preventing the use of 911 in an emergency, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and two failure-to-appear warrants.
