When I say "most snowfall in the nation," do you instantly think of Arizona? No? Maybe you should.  It's not unusual for Arizona to see the earliest winter snowfall in the nation. According to the USGS, Flagstaff set a national record for snowfall at one point last year.

Arizona is Known for Heat

I know, I know, you typically think of extreme heat when you think of Arizona. My dad watches the national news and weather, and he always asks me why they only show the temperature for Phoenix.

That's a great question. Phoenix is often the warmest place in the state, but it's not typical of the weather in the rest of Arizona. Most of Arizona's counties are more temperate, but I think reporting the weather in Phoenix makes us all look a bit dramatic.

Arizona: More Weather Than You Know

That is why I prefer Arizona. If I really want to experience snow, it's just a short drive away, no matter where I am. I don't have to live with the intense cold day in and day out. You can plan a day trip, enjoy the weather, then go back to your regularly scheduled Arizona warmth.
