What would you do if you were magically granted four extra hours in a day?

We discussed this question on the K101 Facebook page. When I posted this, I thought I might be able to guess what your answers would be, but as you often do, you surprised me. Plus, you gave me food for thought.

What I Would Do with an Extra Four Hours

First, what would I do? Or better stated, what do I think I would do?

I'd get to work turning out closets and getting organized. My pantry and refrigerator would be pristine. I'd call old friends and we'd have endless hours to catch up on our lives. Yes, we could probably stretch the call out to four hours.

I'd get at least two more hours of sleep. I'd finish that book (okay, those books) on my reading list. I'd take my dog for a walk. I'd hit the gym and start running again.

What You Told Me You'd Do with the Extra Time

My list is an echo of some of the things you told me on Facebook. Kathy said she'd cuddle with her dog more. Similarly, Kaitlyn said she'd cuddle her cat and read more. Reading was a common theme. Polly and Benito echoed my sentiment - we'd all try to knock out our ever-growing reading lists. Donna says she'd clean until every glimmered, plus get some meal prepping done.

A lot of our answers revolved around getting more sleep, which makes me wonder exactly how sleep-deprived we really are.

What Would REALLY Happen

We all fantasized about what we'd do with the extra hours, but the most jarring and realistic answers came from Brandon and Kristina.

Brandon burst my fantasy of more time to do the things that I want to do, and posed the thought that employers would probably gobble up the extra time. They'd most likely stretch our workdays into 12 or 16 hour shifts, sucking up the extra time, leaving us right were we are now.

But Kristina made the most real point of the list.

I feel like covid taught us that the answer to what we'd do with extra time: nothing.

Oof. Right in the leisure-time fantasy. There goes my organized pantry and whittled down book list.

Who am I kidding? I'd probably just rewatch old episodes of Friends.
