Giddy Up! Cowboy Poetry Is Back In Cochise County!
Growing up on the eastern seaboard of the United States, I'd spent most of my life thinking that cowboys and their exploits were little more than myth.
It wasn't until I moved out west that I learned the real history behind cowboys, and their impact on the American Southwest. That impact is still felt today, and Cochise County's most unique festival brings that to the forefront.
What is Cowboy Poetry?
For the past 32 years, Cochise County has enjoyed tales of the old west and ballads about long days work through the Cochise Cowboy Poetry and Music Gathering. This is an annual event in Cochise county, where artists and poets from around the country will gather to perform their works about cowboy culture and history.
While not the largest in the country, the Cochise edition is certainly the most important. This county has decades of cowboy history in its blood, and makes time to honor that history through heartfelt, handwritten art.

The 2025 Edition is Upon Us
February has begun sinking its freezing teeth into southern Arizona, which means it's time for Cowboy Poetry once again. This year, the theme is Lasso Lunacy, which means the poems and songs performed will focus on the talent and art behind the lasso and trick roping.
The 2025 edition will take place at The K Palace Theatre in Huachuca city from February seventh to the ninth. There will be six performances over the three days, all from legends in poetry and songwriting. There are only select tickets available, so grab yours at cowboypoets.org.
