Arizona High School Students Excel On The National Stage
Sierra Vista's Buena High School has been the name in education in Southeastern Arizona for decades. Their academics, athletics, and extracurriculars have pushed students to excel at every facet of their lives.
Recently, the school's DECA program pushed two students to the national stage, showing that Buena isn't just one of the best schools in Arizona, but in America.
What are DECA and WLBA?
Buena prides itself on its ability to prepare students for the real world post-grad, and no programs show this off like DECA and WLBA. The Distributive Education Clubs of America helps students from around the country prepare for jobs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management through extracurricular activities and competitions.
WLBA, or the Work-Based Learning Alliance, takes these skills to the next level by placing these students in roles where they can take the education into the field, and prepare themselves with on the job experience before they even receive their diploma.

Buena Students on the National Stage
Recently, two Buena students made national headlines due to their work with Buena's DECA program. Leo Johnson was partnered with Kat Rucker Consulting Group, helping their client, Perspective Things by using market analysis, Google Trends data, and cutting edge AI tools to write blog posts and boost the company's name to the forefront of the digital space.
Michaiah Celilo, on the other hand, worked with Elevate Southwest, a Yuma-based no nonprofit. She singlehandedly developed a comprehensive guide for establishing a Student Advisory Board, taking on the role as Group Leader, and pushing the company to create the best board they could.
