Polling Locations Drop As Political Attacks Rise In Arizona
Election day 2024 is fast approaching. On November 5th, millions of Americans will descend on gyms, vacant stores, and cafeterias to place their vote for the next President of the United States of America.
Unfortunately, hosts of polling locations are becoming fearful as we creep closer to November. Political attacks on both sides has made this election a warzone, and now polling locations have become the battleground.
Mesa Schools Pull Support
The Mesa Public School System is Arizona's largest public school district, and for years they've lent their empty classrooms, gyms, and offices to the people of Maricopa County as polling locations during major elections. No more.
As of 2024, Mesa Public Schools will no longer be used as active polling locations. This follows suit with the rest of America, as schools in both red and blue states have begun to close their doors to voters in anticipation of an unpredictable election day.
Why are These Schools Dropping Out?
Over the past decade, animosity between political parties has reached an all time high. Political violence, misinformation, and slander have become the norm, and it's turned the country against itself. There's nowhere worse for this than Arizona.
After the controversial 2020 election, both Republicans and Democrats have been fighting tooth and nail to flip the state to what they want, and as we finally approach election day, the Mesa Public School District decided the risk was not worth it. School property, and more importantly, our children's safety is at risk.
This election, just remember, if you have something to say to someone you disagree with, take it to social media like a man.
