Everyone is excited to swim, but The Cove has delayed the opening. The City has been working on upgrades, and the community is excited to see what they have done.

Here is the City of Sierra Vista PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Feb. 21, 2023

The Cove’s re-opening delayed until March 3

Sierra Vista, AZ. 02/21/23. The Cove, Sierra Vista’s aquatic center, is set to re-open on Friday, March 3, as crews put the final touches on upgrades being completed as part of an energy initiative with Schneider Electric.

The Cove was originally slated to re-open on Saturday, Feb. 25, after closing in December for upgrades and maintenance. Once it re-opens, the public may not notice a big change but much has been done to improve operations behind the scenes.

The facility's old pumps have been replaced with variable-speed models. Its filters were also updated from sand to diatomaceous earth, which allows for much finer filtration and eliminates the need to wash the filters. This will improve water clarity, save staff time, and save water. Equipment has also been installed to bring chlorine production in-house, instead of paying for its purchase and transportation.

The upgrades will save energy, staff time, money, and about 1.4 million gallons of water each year.
